Research Interests

HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT

The demands of modern thermal systems have required the development of methods to augment heat transfer. Intensification of mass transfer is one of the key parameters in lowering the chemical plant costs. Active Techniques for heat and mass transfer enhancement particularly making use of Electrostatic fields and addition of nanoparticles to fluids are being investigated.

CHEMICAL ENGINEERING APPLICATIONS OF CFD ANALYSIS

Combination of chemical engineering principles and fundamental physical models with CFD analysis can  play a significant role in the study of chemical processes. CFD is being used to study the particle size distribution in suspension polymerization reactors, mass transfer in sparger– agitated tanks, and dryers.

BIOFILTRATION

Biofiltration is a cost effective technology for the treatment of low concentrations of volatile organic compounds in contaminated air streams. Systems are being developed for removing chlorinated compounds from contaminated air.

VINYL CHLORIDE SUSPENSION POLYMERIZATION

Poly (vinyl chloride) is one of the most widely used thermoplastics. It is one of the most valuable products of the chemical industry with versatile applications. The effects of various process parameters on the properties of the final product is being studied. Increasing the capacity of the existing plants is the main objective.
